My skirt is not a refuge! – 31

<Episode 31>

When I found Lord Solomon at the evening party, I pressed him somewhat forcefully to leave.

Usually he takes the initiative to fulfill my requests, but today he did not give me a good answer. I wondered if he had some important business to attend to, but from his slurred excuses, it seems unlikely.

When I clung to his arm in impatience, he reacted like a frightened little animal.

I look up at his face, which is slowly turning red, and repeat the words once more.

“Please.”

“Y-Yes.

And so we were on our way home, but Lord Solomon shrunk his large body and pulled over to the edge of the carriage. With his eyes closed, he mumbled and repeated a verse from the holy scriptures?

I could see that he was desperately trying to distract him from me, and I was getting angrier and angrier.

It has been almost a month since the duel.

In other words, it has been a month since our wedding night as well. In all that time, he has never tried to touch me.

For a week or so, I thanked him for taking care of me.

The following week, the moon thing came and that was no longer the case. I was a little sad to learn that I was not carrying a baby.

Furthermore, the next week, I was overwhelmed with anxiety and questions. I wondered why, but was too embarrassed to ask.

It wasn’t what you thought it would be, and you didn’t like it.

Was it just a special situation at that time in the first place, or was he originally a faint-hearted person?

I used to worry like that, but I don’t hesitate anymore.

I’d rather expose everything than end up with a clean slate, even if I’m disillusioned.

“Lord Solomon!”

“?!”

I moved next to Lord Solomon and closed the distance between us. I took the face of the one who was not fishing with both hands, and forced him to turn his head toward me.

His eyes widen and he stares at me. The heat in the area I touched, along with the redness in his cheeks, rises rapidly.

If you are embarrassed by this kind of contact, you are probably still fine.

“Solomon-sama, what’s wrong……?”

My voice unnaturally broke as I tried to ask him why he was avoiding me.

Distracted by the scene before me, the question slipped from my mind. Instead, another question popped out of my mouth.

“……Why are you glowing?”

I think the words are unintelligible to me.

But Lord Solomon neither laughed nor looked puzzled, but gently hid his face with his hands.

Lord Solomon’s hair is glistening and shining.

 Not metaphorically, but physically.

I had always thought it was so bright that it hurt my eyes from time to time. But I always thought it was reflecting the sun or indoor lights.

Currently, it is dark in the carriage, which is on the way back from the night party. In case you are wondering, there is a small lantern, but it is impossible to play its light. If anything, Lord Solomon’s hair is shining brighter than the light source.

“Can I …… explain it to you when we get home?”

Perhaps he has given up, but a muffled voice can be heard through the gap between the hands covering his face.

I had no objection, so I quickly nodded my head and said, “I understand.”

After a while, Lord Solomon’s light faded and by the time we reached the mansion, it was completely gone.

Putting off dressing and bathing, I enter his room with Lord Solomon. After paying people off, he faced me.

As I stare at him again, Lord Solomon’s hair glows faintly again.

The way he floats in the darkness is fantastic. Combined with his excellent appearance, he seemed to me like a fairy or an angel, or even something other than a man.

But instead of being proud of it, he was embarrassed and hung his head with an expression that said he was pathetic.

“Before, whenever I lusted after Chelsea, my eyes would turn black, right?”

“Y- yeah…”

I agree, although my cheeks are stained by the direct expression of lust.

“I was relieved to be able to use magic, but …… in my case, because of the amount of magic I have, if I don’t get rid of that kind of greed, it’s going to cause a problem somewhere.”

“Instead of changing color, it glowed.”

“That’s right…….”

Lord Solomon mutters in a voice that sounds as if it is about to disappear.

Indeed, it is moderately painful to be visually aware of such desires.

I understand your frustration. But I can’t agree.

Because he said, ‘I have to get rid of my greed’.

(Then you’re saying that it wouldn’t have happened if you had done it with me, right?)

“Then why didn’t you tell me?”

“That’s…”

“Have you become so displeased with my touch that you have to endure such a glitch?”

“No, it couldn’t be! Heaven and earth would not be turned upside down!”

I was relieved when he immediately denied it with a shocked look on his face.

The look on his face, which eloquently said he had never thought about it, gives me confidence. The words that I had been afraid to utter just a moment ago slipped out easily.

“Then why don’t you touch me?”

“Huh ……!!!!”

Cackle and instantly turn red to the ears.

Lord Solomon shuddered slightly with a boiling complexion.

“Can I touch it ……?”

With a face as unreliable as a lost child, Lord Solomon mutters.

My stunned mouth dropped open, and a “What?” I heard a voice leaking out of my mouth.

I was just stunned, but Lord Solomon seemed to take it as stunned.

 Impatiently he begins to speak.

Apparently he had been holding back for a while because he had pushed himself too hard.

Meanwhile, her period came and she lost the opportunity to bring up the subject.

It seems that Solomon was also troubled.

As sensitive as this issue is, it is probably the same for both men and women who are afraid of what would happen if they are rejected.

(Come to think of it, you said it was your first time too, Mr. Solomon. I guess he is the same with me in being anxious and groping.)

“And I was wondering if I should even touch you when you weren’t even engaged yet.”

“…… even though it’s not my first time?”

“There were many circumstances then, but it’s different now.”

Lord Solomon was the one who thought of me more than I did.

Even on our wedding night, I was in a corner, but he cared about me and didn’t make a move on me.

 He always puts me first.

Even if it misses the mark a bit, I’m glad it does.

“Then allow me to respond.”

“Wait!”

The pallid Lord Solomon thrust his hand forward and called for restraint.

“It kills me to think about it, just in case.”

He sounds like he is really going to die, an impossible worry.

“I’m thinking of the best proposal right now. I’m gathering information on places and things you like, so please wait a little longer.”

What a healthy and pointless effort.

I am both dismayed and disturbed by how lovely it is.

“I have a play next week that you like, and we can have dinner at …….”

“Solomon-sama!”

I interrupted his desperate attempts to stall with a call.

He stands in front of Lord Solomon with a strong face.

“It’s the same anytime, anywhere. My response to any gift will be the same. As long as it is you who applies to …….”

“……!!!!”

Lord Solomon froze for a few seconds, then opened his eyes.

I smiled as I watched his expression slowly lighten as he gasped for breath.

“Che- Chelsea! Hey, wait right there!”

Lord Solomon looks around restlessly. After saying this to me, he runs toward the balcony.

He opened the glass door roughly and jumped down with his hand on the balcony.

“Solomon-sama!”

I rushed over and peeked in to see that Lord Solomon had landed safely on the ground.

It seems he used wind magic, and the remnants of it made my hair flutter in the air. I saw the back of him running somewhere, and I lost my strength.

Lord Solomon returned immediately and is holding something in both hands.

He came back into the room using wind magic again and tried to run up to me.

But he noticed something and hurriedly put his hand around his own neck. With a messy motion, he pulled out a tie and wrapped it around the bouquet of flowers in his hand.

Kneeling in front of me, Lord Solomon is holding a bouquet of pure white cassia flowers in his arms.

He himself had grown these flowers for me in a corner of garden.

The flowers themselves were beautiful, but the way they were put together was not very well done, the height was not in line, and the ascot tie was twisted and crooked.

Lord Solomon himself was a mess, both in hair and clothes, and sweating.

It was far from the best proposal he was aiming for, by any stretch of the imagination.

“Lady Chelsea Reed. Please marry me.”

But to me, both the bouquet and Lord Solomon himself look absolutely beautiful.

So there can be no other reply than this.

“Yes, with pleasure!”

Gently accepting the bouquet, Lord Solomon breaks into a happy smile.

As I was held tightly in his arms, along with the baby’s breath, I too savored the happiness.

A year later, after a successful wedding, I became Chelsea Beardsley.
