My skirt is not a refuge! – 09

His eyes, as sharp as drawn blades, turned to me.

“Dear brother, this is my friend Chelsea.”

“Oh, you must be Count Reed’s daughter.”

“Yes, my name is Chelsea Reed.”

“I’m Lana’s brother, Glenn. I always taking care of my sister”

His expression, which had been like a stone statue, relaxes a little.

(Lana is adored by her brother, isn’t she?)

I was relieved to see Lord Glenn’s kind eyes.

As mentioned above, Lord Glenn does not look like Lana.

And their colors are different.

Lana has fluffy, wavy golden brown hair and light green eyes.

Like her older brother, her parents are a similar shade.

In contrast, Lord Glenn’s hair and eyes are dark brown.

When you hear of a child whose face and coloring do not resemble those of his or her parents, most people would imagine a tussle.

As usual, the Earl of Kimberley family had exception.

Despite the fact that the test results proved that it was a septic heredity and not Mother Glenn’s wrong doing, Lord Glenn was treated like a tumor, apparently.

Lana told me that he did not want to live in an uncomfortable house and that he studied abroad at his own request.

Because of these circumstances, I was worried about how the siblings would get along, but it seems my fears were unfounded.

“Because my brother is taking it easy.”

“He was probably just leaving his seat for a bit to say hello.”

“That’s not what I meant.”

As I watched with a smile at their easygoing exchange, Lord Glenn looked at me as with a puzzled expression.

He hesitates as if searching for right words, then clears his throat with a single cough.

“Count Reed’s daughter, I wonder if I could have a few moments of your time? I have just made the acquaintance of a beautiful woman, and it would be a shame to part ways with her like this.”

I chuckled wryly at the obvious social niceties.

I guess he had heard in advance from Lana that there was someone he wanted to introduce me to.

Although he was reluctant to do so, he was kind enough to invite me and my sister so as not to embarrass us.

“Brother, it’s too late. It’s okay.”

When Lana continues, “I’m not going to introduce you,”

Mr. Glenn breathes a sigh of relief.

“I knew you were just getting ahead of yourself. No matter you are from the Earl of Kimberly’s family, there is no way that any woman would want to be related to me.”

The unexpected words made me blink.

Then Lord Glenn lowers his eyebrows a little and smiles.

“I’m sure you thought you were dealing with my brother. I’d appreciate an honest answer rather than forcing me to go out with you, so don’t worry about it.”

Before I could understand what he meant, Lord Glenn continued to speak.

“I’ll make arrangements for you to see my brother next time.”

“No, thank you.”

As if by spinal reflex, I immediately denied it.

The only older brother is the next head of the Earl of Kimberley’s family.

He is a slender nobleman with a gorgeous face similar to Lana’s, and is naturally extremely popular.

What a horrible thing this person is to saying about connecting with such a person.

Perhaps it was because I turned down the offer with a biting tone, but Lord Glen seemed stunned.

I regret now that I was quite rude.

(But I still don’t like it……)

I don’t want to stand out or be the enemy of single women.

I’m already full of it, just with Mr. Solomon.

“My apologize. But it is too good for someone like me.”

“No, if you don’t need it, that’s fine. ……”

Beside the bewildered Lord Glenn, Lana was looking shock.

“I told you Chelsea wasn’t a girl who cared about titles or looks. It seems she doesn’t really care.”

(No. I care about things, about titles and looks.)

However, the opposite is true. Too much of a good thing is bad.

Too much money, too high a position, and too beautiful a face are not necessary for a peaceful life.

In fact, they are a source of conflict, so much so that they are a hindrance.

Everything is just right in the middle.

“I didn’t think there was a woman in the world who wasn’t interested in your brother.”

“Chelsea has no interest in a guy like Dale who’s so promiscuous with women.”

Lana’s older brother, Lord Dale, is the subject of many women-related rumors.

Lord Solomon was similar, but after living beside him, I could hardly believe that he was a careless for women.

Therefore, I was not so sure about the truth of the Dale-sama rumor, but from what my relatives have told me, it does not seem to be an exaggeration.

“But don’t offer me up in your place. I feel sorry for Count Reed’s daughter.”

“Chelsea isn’t turning down you because she doesn’t like you, brother.”

Lord Glenn, upon hearing Lana’s words, seemed half-convinced.

It is a mystery to me why he has such low self-esteem.

“Right, Chelsea?”

“Yes, I think Mr. Glenn is a love.”

I wonder if our neighboring countries have different values regarding beauty and ugliness than ours.

I answer inwardly, confused.

“Don’t you care about the color of my hair and eyes?”

It is a dark color, rare in our country, but it is brown, not black. What is the problem?

“Huh? …… Nothing in particular?”

“It’s the color of chocolate,”

I added, and he looked at me like I was looking at a rare creature.

I think it looks good and tasty, but it seems my impression was misplaced.

“You are a …… stranger person”

I feel like I was considered a strange, if not weird, woman.

When I smiled deceptively and said, “Is that so?”

The corner of my mouth turned up a little.

“Yeah. I’d like to talk to you a little bit more if possible.”

?

As I tilted my head, wondering what he meant, and Lord Glenn looked at me.

“More about you.”

“Excuse me.”

Gently, I was pulled by the shoulders from behind.

I felt a hard thump on my back.

I was so surprised that I couldn’t speak, but when I looked up, I saw Lord Solomon with a grim expression on his face.

“Ugh.”

“My Lady, you are not feeling well, are you?”

“Eh.”

He covers his words as if to interrupt the voice that calls him Lord Solomon.

“You’ve been looking pale for a while now. You seem unsteady on your feet.”

(I’m full of energy, but …… what are we talking about? If I had to say, I’d say I’m dizzy with the current state of being hugged in the evening party hall.)

“Lord Solomon?”

Lana looks at me and Lord Solomon in surprise.

I even asked him what he meant by that, when he asked me with his gaze.

“Oh, you must have been pushing yourself too hard. I’ll will take you to the doctor now, so please be patient until then.”

“Uh, that ……? Huh?”

In one swift, fluid motion, she was picked up and held sideways, and she let out a small scream.

However, I was drowned out by the screams of the young women around me.

“I’m in trouble.”

“Shut up.”

I tried to protest, but a low voice stopped me.

“If you resist, I will propose to you right here, right now.”

I stopped moving at the threatening words of Lord Solomon, who put his face close to my ear.

There is nothing to stop him from saying, “I’m fine with that, though,” with a smile so beautiful that you can’t help but admire it.

I became quiet, and Lord Solomon held me back firmly.

I left the venue of the evening party with a stunned Lana and the others seeing me off.
